So I have 2 ND bucks who are living separate, but would really like not to be. They are still young, about 3 months old, so they are tiny. Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone uses goat aprons and if so, are they successful? I'd love for them to all run together, but I don't want any unexpected pregnancies, especially with the young does!

Thanks!!!

I have seen them offered for sale in livestock catalogs. I have never personally used them nor do I know anyone who has. In theory they would work but goats are pretty resourceful. It isn't the same thing, but I have known does to get bred though a cyclone fence. I sure wouldn't rely on them.

That's what I keep thinking, but I've been reading that they've been used forever in other countries, successfully.

Like many things they will work until they don't. As I said, I have had zero experience with them. Zero. But here is something else to think about. Can you imagine how frustrated that poor buck would be to try and try and keep coming up against that apron?

Ha! I'm sure that would get frustrating!

I use one on my ND buck so he can run with the herd. I pulled it off in early November for breeding season and will leave him with the herd until about a month before kidding as long as everyone behaves!
