We have a 400 ft perimeter I would like to fence appropriately so we can get goats. What kind of fencing do we need? Definitely on a budget and it is already fenced with chicken wire, but from what I understand, that won't hold up. Any suggestions would be great.

I like the No Climb Horse fencing for Goats ,.. Thats what I will be using this spring when I get my new Pygmies.. I like it since they cant stick their head thru it and cant get a ood hoof hold to try to bounce over it..

I also like the no climb. The squares are 4x2, so no dog can stick their heads thru, and it works good for chickens (not chicks of course).

to see you Jeaucamom!!!

We used goat wire from Tractor Supply, comes in a 330 foot roll, and then ran hot wire around the inside about a foot up to keep them off the fence. Mine love to scratch themselves on the wire too and after a bit of that the fence started bowing out and looking quite bad, the hot wire solved that. You can run it around the outside too to help keep dogs away.

The no climb is probably the best, but in the interest of money we used regular field fence. The only con to that is that the one goat I have with horns occasionally gets her head stuck in the fence. She has pretty well learned not to do that, but every once in a while she still does. Other than that it works wonderfully.
