Hi all!:) My nubian goat Daisy has started head butting and curling her lip today. She doesn't ram me or my other goat just the walls of their pen and the objects within. She's never done either of those things since I got her and was just wondering if this is normal? Could there be a reason she keeps ramming or is she just being a goat? Lol
Thanks!!:D

Oh heres a pic I got of her curling her lip lol

The curling of the lip is called a Flehmen response. Many animals do it when there is a particular smell in the area. The action basically helps them increase their smelling ability into the sensory organ located to the back of the nasal cavity.

I'm betting she is probably feeling a bit dominant, which is why you are seeing this combination of behaviors. Have you added any new goats recently, or changed their enclosure at all? A new individual in the herd or new surroundings could also cause the behavior.

As long as she is not butting you or hurting herself, I'd say the behavior is pretty normal and nothing to worry about.

Thank you!
My brother is home from college and brought his year old sheperd with him. Yesterday he came with me to do chores and that must be what did it.

Thanks again!!!:)
