Hello all,
We just got 2 baby goats yesterday. I was told that they'd had the Bose shot (bo-se), and I can't find much info. online. I think I read that it was selenium & vitamin E, so that sounds more like a booster than an immunization. And that they needed tetanus @ 3 weeks and then again in 3 more weeks.....but every site I read said something different.

Both wethers, one is 2 wks and the other they think was 6 days. They are adorable and eating well, but the little guy is TINY.

Help! I need a website that gives info. on immunizations and worming!!!

btw, I tried to join a couple yahoo groups, but is just becoming more of a headache and no answers.

Thanks,

Laurie

Hi, I have only been raising goats for 3 years now, so I am still learning a lot.

A website I find very useful is http://hoeggergoatsupply.com/info/

It
is from Hoegger Supply Co. The link is for the goat info section.
I also have a friend that been raising goats for over 30 years, so I ask her a lot of questions, also.

Hope this helps you out.

Jean

Mine got the CD&T (includes the tetnus) at about a week then a booster at about a month old. Also my does (both yearlings when I got them) got a rabies vaccination, and a CD&T booster. Here rabies is prevelant and recommended for goats kept as pets. My babies wont get rabies until they are older--over 4 months. Good luck with your goaties! I love mine.

Laurie, I'm in Northern California too; up in Auburn. Where are you? I can help you if you need it, but the sucky thing about being in California is that we can't get a lot of the meds that other states can get without a prescription. But, if you don't mind doing shots yourself, there's still a lot of meds you can get either online or at the feedstore.
By the way...WHERE ARE THE PICTURES???

Hi,
We are outside of Oroville.

Bummer to hear about the meds.

I just need a basic schedule (ages) for shots, worming & booster/vitamin stuff. I don't wanna screw this up.

I have taken pics, but they don't stand still for the camera.

FiasCo Farm has a great website with most of the info you would need. My goats get their first CDT at 3 weeks and second at 6 weeks. If you don't know their mom's immunization record you could start a week earlier. Good luck with your little ones. They are fun and very addictive.

Bose isn't a vaccination. Its a booster to give theraputic levels of selenium to baby goats. Our state and the hay raised here is deficient in most cases. A vet can give you the necessary amount of bose for the babies. My nigi's just get a 1/10th cc when born. Mom's get one or two boosters through the year along with copper bolus about the same time.

I do CD-T at three weeks then again a month later. Momma goats have them every fall.
I never do the BoSe. I use goat feed with vit/minerals added. I just don't see it as necessary. If I happen to buy a skinny goat from a farm auction, I do get a Vit B injection for them, then just do the CD-T and start them on a good quality feed with all the hay they want.

Nope. I live in California and I buy it at the feed store and livestock supply all the time.
