Goat links?

If you are getting two gallons a day from her you are doing very well. From my research it seems that a gallon-a-day milker is above average and two gallons is outstanding. Let me know if you breed her and I might buy one of the doelings.

My goats are big. When I say big I mean 150+ for the 2 largest does. They both give 1 gallon in the morning and 1 gallon in the evening when milking. I only know one other person with a goat around here the size of my Lilah.

She is the white lead doe.

This is her and her kid from last April - now 1 yr old. Violet is a nice size but not as large as her mother.

miss prissy! You have beautiful goats! I love my saanan's! My first doe is a saanan, and her mother was a champion milker, I was getting the same as you easily when she was not nursing! When she was nursing a single doe, I was getting 1/2 gallon twice a day.
That baby got big! Now she is the mother of my 2 doelings, but her udder was nowhere near the size of her mothers.

I am told Lilah came from an incredible milker. Her mother milked through every pregnancy and never dried off. I had to dry Lilah off this past fall. She was losing weight and needed to gain for the winter. It was hard but somehow we managed without the milk

I can't wait to breed her again now that she has had a break and her body is in great shape.

Missprissy
has my other two favorite breeds I note. Saanan and nubian. Care to send a couple my way?

Sorry Henry! Toggenburgs are high on my list too.

Too bad you weren't closer Miss Prissy. I know where there are some togg crosses that need somebody.

There is a pretty big dairy goat farm closing here in NH. Woman's husband up and left her with all the animals. She has over 100 goats to move. Some milkers, bucks and lots of kids. Most are alpines but there are some Toggs and tog alpine and togg saanan and lamancha crosses.

Woman is loosing ground fast. So are the goats.
I came home with 2. I already had a goat. Lost 2 this winter and needed some more.
Right now I'm torn between letting the milker I paid for dry off because of her poor condition or waiting to see if she improves here while I milk her a bit.
She's a nice goat. I actually wandered the pens waiting for one to choose me. This girl did. Took only a day before I could milk her. She's an alpine, born on that farm. Followed me and kept poking at me for attention.

My hands ache and I'm out of practice. Hadn't milked a goat in 20 years.
I also took home a newly weaned wether. Need some brush clearing goaties.

My first goat was a togg/nubian cross with big airplane ears. That girl put out some serious milk. She raised her own kids and a jersey calf and still I had milk coming out of my ears.
