going away for four days....

We will be going away for four days and I need to know...how much food and water do you think 12 chickens will need? I am planning on keeping them locked up in the coop...

I have 10 chickens and for a long weekend I left them a drop feeder full (holds about 3 large coffe can-sized scoops) plus 2 one gallon ice cream buckets full. So for 12 chickens/4 days, I would guess about 6/gallon buckets of feed and atleast 3 gallons of water.

What chickonaroost said about feed should be okay, but if I were you, I'd invest in a cheap automatic dog watering bowl for times like this. They could go a day or two without the feed, but that long without water will seriously weaken or kill them. Since it's hard to figure out how much water they'd need/use in four days, get the automatic waterer to be safe.
