Going Big!

AmyLynn is right I have a youtube clip I load on my phone and set it my incubator once in awhile during the hatch to encourage the little guys to hatch. I always see a noticeable difference in activity when i play it.

That's the one I use. And boy do they react!!! lol My zippers are usually out in 15 minutes...lol

My hatch finished up late last night. Pipping started on day 20 and last egg complete on 21. Of the 48 eggs I started with 30 made it to lock down. Of those 20 hatched. Of the unhatched eggs, 2 had pipped internally and all of the others looked like they died around day 18. I was really nervous about doing the eggtopsy but if I was doing something wrong I did not want to repeat it.

67% hatch rate is pretty good I think. I am very pleased! I think my success had to do with a couple of things. First my incubator was rock steady with both temp and humidity. I never had to adjust anything other than the humidity for lockdown. Second, I would like to thank AmyLynn2374 for all of your suggestions and help with my humidity. If it were not for you I probably would not have tried the dry method. I am now a true believer and will incubate this way from now on... which as it turns out will be tomorrow!

After my last egg hatched yesterday I made arrangements to pick up 2 dozen Frizzles and 10 Marans! I will also be adding 4 of my own Blue Laced Red Wyandots! Dear God, I am addicted!!!!

All it takes is one successfull hatch and it's total addiction. lol I am so glad you had a decent hatch, and I hope the next is even better!!! Eventually I'd like to add a couple frizzle/sizzles, just because I love the ones that look odd...lol
