It is day 21 for half the eggs - tomorrow is Day 21 for the other half. I have been unable to psychically communicate to the eggs that I wish there to be pipping. I have finished two humongous brooders, finished two knitted scarves (not for chickens), and attempted to clean and reclean different parts of my house after the boy tornados roll through - I know they are in there! In fact judging from the rocking going on yesterday (and some today) there are far more in there than I originally thought! My temp is 100.2 in my still air and humidity is 70% - I have tortured the eggs with a flashlight every hour! No one in there cares! They are just sitting there! It is too cold to go move the wood pile and I hate doing the dishes (even for purposes of occupying myself). I have read Turkey digest - Backyard Poultry and the newest Better Homes & Gardens (which is only making me want to plant things in a place where it is too cold to go move the wood pile!). I have unwrapped and fawned over the turkey eggs that came in the mail today. I must find something else to do until something happens! This last three days is a killer! No touching - no candling - no opening the bator - - not helping the situation are the minute by minute questions from the boys - "when are they going to hatch" "will you wake me up even if it's the middle of the night" - "if I wake up before you can I play with the chicks" "can the first one that hatches be mine" "they are moving" "I see a hole" (this is not a hole it's a scratch) - Maybe I'm not cut out to be a hatcher (which kind of stinks because I have purchased enough eggs to hatch through May) - three more hatches where I have to make it through the last three days! I'll be a drinker yet! Dang - this isn't an incubating question - it's a random rambling vent - Sorry! I need attention and empathy!

I know what you are going through. I am the Master Worry Wart!

Last hatch as day 21 began I only had 2 pips. I figured I'd be lucky to get a dozen. By the end of day 22 I had 41 chicks!!!

Be patient.

Hope for the best.

Ha ha ha ha!!! I love it! Sounds just like me!!!!!! The kids thought I was nuts! Checking in the window of the bator with the flashlight every 15 minutes or so! And because of my careful attention, we all got to enjoy the first egg hatch:) My second batch of the year just hatched. I got to observe the first one, but then had to go to work and then there were 8 fuzzbutts waiting for me when I got home! I would tell you to be patient, but I know you won't! Can't wait to hear how your hatch goes and post pix too!

Thanks you guys! I was starting to feel like a total nut-job! I did the dishes and re-read the Turkey magazine and now that it's 20 to five here - I may enjoy an adult beverage. The kids going to prom will be here in a little while to take group pictures so that should distract and entertain me for a little while (except Jessi will want to show all of them the incubator)! I figure I'll feel like a normal human again in a few days! Who would've thought? Before I actually did it - I figured you just put the eggs in the incubator and then one day there would be chicks! Which is kind of dumb because I was always the crazy pregant woman yelling at her stomach for the last two weeks "what is wrong with you?" "get out of there!: What an interesting hobby! If anyone ever decides to come out - I will definitely post pictures! Just another adventure! Gosh - life is good sometimes.

Love your post!!! Am hatching for the first time and feel the same and I'm not even at lockdown point. How cool knowing they are there and moving!! Clean out your closets and junk drawers while you wait!! Haha....you'll get a ton of stuff done and be ready to enjoy the little guys when they appear!! Have fun!! This is so much fun!!!
