Going to bed at night

Ducks like to party after dark and will if you give them the opportunity. They may learn to put themselves to bed, but if you don't lock the door behind them they will come back out to continue the party. :gig
Tell me! - I forgot Limpy last evening in the pool - he was hiding. When i opened the door to put him inside, the others all ran back out again…

That's ALWAYS the way it goes. If you go out for the loaner there will surely be a jailbreak. I wonder if the loaner is intentionally bait/decoy so that the rest can escape their house?

:lau I definitely cannot rule that out! Limpy started rasping after the other ducks had gobbled down their salad bowl. So they got the meal and enough energy to party all night outside. Ducks!!!

Mine like to go in a few hours after dark. Tonight all 12 were in their house when I got home around 11pm. By the time I got to the back yard two of them were just outside of it and they seen me and headed up their ramp so I shut their door. Last night they protested in a March around the pool but it was only 9pm lol. They go in by "Night Night" but can't figure out "Treats" which I said from when they were babies. It usually goes one of four ways: They patiently wait for me to put fresh pine chips down and close the side door, they rush in as I am in there then go running out like "oh crap! monster!", I have to herd them or they decide we are playing a game of chase lol. Love those white fluffy duckies!

Are they inside a covered secure pen leaving them outside after dark if not boy your taking a big chance of something snatching and taking off. Don't mean to be nosy but it's reality.

Mine are in a fenced in yard but they stay in a tight group and have hiding areas. We will eventually have a run built to put them in as the evening approaches.

Routine definitely! Mine go up every night before the sun sets. So right now where I’m at it’s about 6:45. If I wait until dark-they are scared to death of flashlights so it’s extremely hard to get them in. They know when I open the door and I have their food, that they are going up for the night. They beat me to the coop most times, but ALWAYS wait for me to put the food down. I’m confident if I didn’t have the food, they wouldn’t go in.
