Going to get ducklings need help to choose what breed

I'm going to get ducklings and can't choose between pekins, khaki campbells and blue swedes. I need help to choose. do any of you have any of the breeds and what is there temperament like? Are there good layers?

I have or have had them all. The temperaments on mine are all about the same-- pleasant enough, but not particularly affectionate or cuddly. They pretty much do their own thing, but that could easily be how we raise them. They roam an acre of our backyard, but we don't pick them up or handle them much.

As far as eggs go, a Khaki Campbell will be the best layer of the three, but my Pekin and Blue Swede girls lay regularly from February through November, so I really have no complaints about their laying abilities at all!

My old Pekins and Swedes were usually pretty friendly but i am sure if i spent more time with them they could have turned into lap duckies, lol.

If you want good layers AND friendly, I recommend Welsh Harlequins.

The most friendliest and social ducks in my opinion are muscovys!! They are so sweet

Ok, I think I'm going to get khaki campbells and blue swedes and I think i'll get three of each, so six ducklings. I can only get them St. run so with three of each I hope to get at least one hen of each breed. Does that sound right? this is the first time I'm raising ducklings from day olds and really need help to choose. is three of each going to get me what I want? should I get more then three of each or is three of each going to be right?

Runners are good layers....and can be quite friendly if you spend time with them from the beginning.

I just ordered my ducklings today and I couln't decide also. Finally decided on 5 Pekin and 5 Kahki Campbells. The minumum order was 10 or shipping was $40 YIKES! I hope the 10 work out otherwise I will post them on Craigs List and shouldn't have a problem finding them a good home

I can't wait to get them, they are coming on the 29th!!

Ok, I ordered. I'm getting 25 EE chicks, three khaki campbells and three blue swedes, I found a breeder near me that sells cochins and I'm going to see if I can get some of those too! I can't wait!!! they sould be here the 31st or the 1st.
