Going to get some Hens, help needed.

We had recently found that our Buff Orpington pullets were not what they claimed to be. We have found someone who has 4month old buffs and we were going to pick some up today. This is probably a crazy question, but what is the easiest way to tell if they are hens at 4months of age or older? Remember we are very new to this. I am only asking because the breeder said they were straight run and he didnt sex them, we dont want to be stuck with more roo's. Thanks for the help.

At 4 months old it should be pretty easy to tell which are pullets, they will have pale colored small combs. Those with bigger combs that are a brighter red are boys. They may even have stouter longer legs.

That sounds a bit strange to me..the breeder is selling straight run 4 month olds?? I wouldn't be a bit surprised if ALL are roosters he's selling...he knows what he has he's just hoping whoever buys them doesn't...
