Going to Italy

Quote:
Oh, Oh, Oh!!! My daughter spent a whole semester studying in Italy and she will tell you that the highlight of her trip was Firenza. Try to get to some of the little farming villages away from the main tourist traps (Venice is beautiful but so overdone) where they have amazing local cuisine, friendly villagers and special things to see that you'll never hear about otherwise. Dani went to some out of the way village near Rome and and stayed at a tiny B and B and the next day they took her to see some old ruins that were so beautiful she cried.

Ooooh, you should go to Dani's facebook page and look at some of her pics. She's a professional photographer and journalist. If you decide to check out the pics send her a friend request and tell her that her mother told you to look at her Italia pics.

My wife has kin in Italy, & my BIL went to visit them a few years ago. He was trying to explain how dedicated the women were towards their husbands. He told me " The women complain alot, but if you ask them to lick the toe jam from between your toes, they'll do it."

I sure hope they're not THAT dedicated!

Most locals in Europe dress nice. The women do not wear tennis shoes. They wear leather shoes and jackets too. They live in a more fashion savvy world. I mostly wore capri pants and leather sandles. I carried a large leather handbag too. In america we keep up with the Jones'es, in Italy they keep up with the Gucci'es.

If you can, rent a car and take the drive from Naples to Sorrento on Amalfi Drive. If I remember right it's a couple hours round trip and one of the most scenic drives in the world. Litterally hugging the cliffs of the Mediterainin(?) and passing thru towns and villages from Roman times. I lived in Naples as a kid in the 70s. Navy brat.
