Going to lay or not?!!

I have a one year old Orpington that goes into the egg box and sits there for an hour or maybe longer and comes out without laying an egg most of the time. She lays about twice a week. She shows no signs of distress or discomfort and runs around as usual most of the time. What's going on? Does she just dig hanging out in there, is there a problem, or is she just a nut?!!

Sounds like she wants to lay but is limited or she could be hanging out in hopes of going broody lol some chickens/geese/ducks just really wanna hatch eggs.

My Buff Orp does the same. She used to lay 5-6 eggs a week, and now it's down to about 2, and it takes her 3-4 hrs each time. I keep thinking she's broody but she hasn't gone broody yet this year. She just seems to like sitting in there and chilling.

I'm starting to think so. I guess maybe she's just taking a rest in a quiet spot. She's funny. She's gotten nosey lately and peeks in on the other girls when they lay. Just takes a tiny peek around the curtain. Nut!!
