found a pyr, 1.5 years old. his name is Hoss. He is purebred working class, his parents are LGDs on a 164 acre cattle farm. all 9of his siblings are lgds on the farm, and he is the only dog who lived off the farm (he did live around chickens and other livestock for the first 4 months of his life) . this dog belongs to the daughter-in-law of the farm owners, and she is divorcing and can't keep him. she wants him where he can be outside all the time, fenced, and working, because that's how he's happiest. BINGO!!!!!!!!! i want a full time outside dog who is happy that way, who will guard the chickens and the kids, and maybe i've found him!! and the icing on the cake is: she's giving him away!!!

i'm taking the kids to see him tomorrow to see how he responds to us. i can tell by the way the owner talks about him that he is loved and cared for. i am thrilled, and hope it's a perfect match! anyone with advice feel free to contribute--i really want to train this dog right and have him be a happy and productive part of our lives!

Sounds like a good match, I hope it works out!

Cool! I love LGDs. That's why I have two Komondors and a Caucasian Mountain Dog. They're all intact males. Never have real problems with them. I can feed cow ribs and bones to all of them together. They seem to enjoy eating more together. The Great Pyr is a true gentle giant.
