<< Going to the vet in a hour to have him euthanized :'( >>

i think you did the right thing by giving him a chance, and now you are being kind by ending his suffering. sorry for your loss. rest in peace baby chicky.

I am so sorry. I wish there is an easy fix. like a chick "gut poker in tool". I had one like that, but it didn't make out of the egg all the way. It makes me want to become a vet so I can say hey, "If I shove that in here and sew this up, now everything is just fine!"

I'm sorry. You did a good thing by taking him to the vet, even that way is still heartbreaking. You did what you could to keep him as comfy as possible for his precious time here.

Thanks you guys

I really appreciate your kind words.

I know, I felt like I had no idea what to do for the poor guy. I am going to start veterinary classes at a skill center for highschoolers, and from there I will go to vet school. Hopefully in the future, if it ever happens again, I will be through school so that I can actually do something for him.

OH! I had one like that! I didn't realize it was intestines! He survived that, although he died a couple days later from a heart defect I believe. A hen had pecked a lot of the stuff and eaten it. That could have been why it died? It was acting fine. It had pooped and the stuff ha dried up.

If intestines are on the outside of the body, they don't make it. It would be rare for you to be able to get them back in without damaging them or causing an infection. Best to cull the poor little guy. It's happened to me a few times.

The picture of his was his yolk. But then his yolk came out more and dragged his intestines out along with it. I didn't take a picture of his intestines hanging out. But you could tell because it was like a see through noodle, and you could see liquid and bubbles in it. And it was long and curled up.

I tried to gently put them back in, but I soon realized that was impossible and I didn't want to hurt him and/or rupture the intestine by pushing it too much. At least he is no longer in pain now. The poor little guy was more active then the two that are alive and healthy. I truly believe I did the right thing by taking him into the vet. That way I know it will be done humanly.

We had a duckling hatch with the majority of his guts hanging out (loked just like the poor baby in this thread) and he made it just fine, it was touch and go for a while but he was perfectly fine in the end. They CAN make it but most dont. So sorry for the loss!
