The way it was explained to me was:

Black Breasted Red is Red Duckwing, so my guess is that it is the same except the triangle on the wing is gold instead of red.

Maybe someone else will come along and expalins it a little more in detail.

BB Red is Silver and Gold s-/s- where as the Silver Duckwing is S/S the Golden is S/s-. That only applies to the male since the females can only carry one or the other. By teh description in the standard the female is a silver duckwing. S/-.
    Hope that helps.

Quote:The hackle, saddle, wing bow and wing bay are all split between gold (red) and Silver, thereby giving teh males a golden appearance to these four areas.

gold duckwing is an unaltered wildtype looking bird, roosters look like a RedJungle Fowl in color.

Black Breasted Red is a pheomelanin(red pigment in feathers) enhanced wildtype looking bird, roosters look like normal OEG.

this is how a gold duckwing roo should look(Red JungleFowl)

this is how gold duckwing looks in a domesticated rooster(Dutch)

now how a Black Breasted Red should look(OEGB), nice Red color
    [IMG]

here is a super enhanced Black Breasted Red roo(wildtype leghorn enhance by Mahogany and other enhancers. they are called Dark Brown leghorn even if they lack the dark brown gene, db)

why the name gold? well a unaltered gold based rooster should have a nice gold tone in his hackles..

NOW.. To Golden not breeding true.. Golden is the mix of Silver(white) and Gold(Black breasted Red most of the time) and that will give you a "Golden bird" which is a mix and the tone of the color is a yellow color. can it breed true? no, can it be recreated by other means? yes, using gold diluters like recessive cream(ig), Dominant Dilute(Di) Champagne Blonde(Cb)

here is a Cream Dutch Bantam, Nice..

Gold duckwing refers to a male or female that is wild type at the E locus- the birds do not carry any genes that would modify the plumage.

Black Breasted red refers to a male phenotype ( plumage color) of dominant wheaten, brown, recessive wheaten or buttercup. It can refer to a male that is a gold duckwing.

In some game fowl- Black breasted red refers to a wheaten male while the female is referred to as wheaten.
