So today I noticed that when out in the chicken run, my Cochin stayed underneath the watering bowl and would roll around in the mud/puddles. I brought out their favorite treats and she wouldn’t budge. Now she’s soaking wet. Is this a sign of overheating or lack of a dust bath. I’m new to chickens and she’s new to being one so any help would be much appreciated. I attached some photos of her

I’m new to chickens and she’s new to being one...
Huh?..meaning she's young?

Is this a sign of overheating or lack of a dust bath.
Could be both.
Do they have a good place to dust bathe?
Are they panting from the heat?
Holding their wings out away from the body?

Not coming for treats is one of the 'tests' I use to check for lethargy due to over-heating.
Heat stress/stroke is no joke...almost lost a hen to it one summer.

Deep all day shade is best but....

I give a dose of Sav-a-Chick electrolytes/vitamins about once a week during heat waves.
It really seems to help....started this after they saved a heat stroked hen once.
Can mix up a smaller amount, just wrap the packet tight and store in a dry cool place.
Always have plain water available too.

BIG(9x14x2") chunks of ice last all day for wading, sitting, and sipping.
Much more useful to the chickens than frozen foods and treats.
