I'm still going with pullets!

Last year, one of my chicks had an unsure gender and the person who sold them to us said, "Look for long, curved over, poofy feathers and a large, red comb and wattle that grows in early. Spurs will also get large in rosters, but most females have small spurs or bumps that never develop." Also, for the Barred Rocks, male of this breed tend to have more white in their barring, while pullets are distinctly darker.

pullet on left, cockerel on right for BR about 6-7 weeks

My Barred Rock looked just like that and she's defenitly a hen, the other one looks like a pullet too, they both have small combs and it dosen't look like their wattles are even showing yet. Thick legs are also a give away, cockerels have thicker legs then pullets.
