Gold X Buff= silver?

I have chicks from a gold ducking cuckoo and a buff hen and have a silver barred columbia roo young. Is this possible. Is silver recessive to gold?

A golden duckwing male can be split silver/gold. the hackles will show as yellow. Any females inheriting the silver gene will be silver, there is the same chance of a female inheriting a gold gene but they cannot inherit both.
