Do any of you raise Golden Campines? I think they are beautiful. Are they hard to raise? I have tried several different rare breeds of bantams in the past and had trouble getting them to lay well. I have bantams now, but would like to try some medium size chicks. Thanks, Sandy

I have two Silver Campines chicks, and five more coming. I am going to follow this to find out!

Campines are considered large foul, not bantams. They are a "small" large breed and will only get 4 - 5 pounds. I just got one yesterday and haven't gotten the chance to really get to know her yet, but she seems sweet. According to the research I've done, they're supposed to be good layers of medium sized white eggs. We'll see!

Campines are available in both large fowl & bantam form. Large fowl weights are: C 6 lbs, Ckl 5 lbs, H 44 lbs, P 3 1/2 lbs. I have Golden Campine large fowl & they are exceptionally good layers. their eggs are half way between medium & large weight on average.
