I have two 19week old (almost 20 week old) Golden comets, a production red, and black sexlink. Two started laying yesterday, I’m not sure which, one was a kind of normal sized egg and one was so tiny. They both were soft shelled but I looked online that it’s normal for first eggs and we switched them to layer feed. I went out and checked the nest boxes this morning and no eggs. Is it normal for these breeds to lay eggs one day and nothing the next when they’re first starting?

I've never had chicks/pullets but I've heard some weird things can happen when hens first start laying. Give them a little time. My Golden Comets lay every day (although, now that they are older their egg quality has decreased dramatically). I'm sure they will be fine!
