We have 2 Golden Comet chicks, One is a male, because my little boy didn't listen to me when I told him I wanted hens only! So now I'm stuck with a roo and a pullet. My husband refuses to allow me to have him processed this fall... So, can these be shown at the 4H fair? I figured if anything maybe Kam could show them..

If I'm recalling correctly, Golden Comets are a hybrid "breed", so that makes them ineligible for showing.

Sorry about that!

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought Golden Comets were sex-linked so that there should be no confusion about rooster vs. pullet. Are you sure you have a rooster? Or that the rooster is a golden comet?

Females are red with white under feathering and males are almost entirely white. I don't think they can be shown though but 4-H might have exceptions since that is pretty much something that kids do.

Funny you're bringing that up... That's exactly what I told my boy! Its a roo.

I have golden comets and yes they are a sex-link, even though you may not be able to show them in 4H... I talked to the man that coordinates the poultry show at the agricultural fair and he said that I could show them in the layers catagory that they are adding this year... so ou could check the local fair grounds if you can't do 4H.
