CoolCockerels will be silver laced, pullets will be gold laced.
HOWEVER if you were to cross a silver rooster on a gold hen, ALL offspring would be silver. (IF the rooster is homozygous for silver and doesn't carry a gold gene.) If the rooster is silver and DOES carry a gold gene, you could get chicks of both genders in both colors.Cool
Huh, I'd just read that somewhere else. So they'd be sexable at birth, but, as they grew older, would start to look more and more like each other. If I hadn't known this and started breeding sex links, I likely would have been staring at my gold and sort-of gold chickens and wondering where my roos wentPullets would be gold laced. Cockerels will be "golden" laced. They will hatch looking like silver laced but they won't mature to look SL. They'll be in between with a yellowish color instead of gold.
The other way around will produce silver laced pullets and the same "golden" cockerels.
