Single comb on a wyandotte would be "comb foreign to the breed" and a disqualification in the show hall. It is not uncommon to see single combed chicks out of Rose combed breeds, especially Wyandottes. While of no use in the show hall, they are sometimes very good in the type department. From a breeding perspective, all things considered, if that singled combed wyandotte excels in breed type you could still use her in a breeding pen, bred to a proper combed Wyandotte male. Rose Comb is dominant and most likely all chicks from that breeding will have rose combs. Note however, that you will see additional single combed chicks in future years, as the recessive single combs pop up now and again. Many wyandotte breeders will use a single combed bird in their breeding pens. They say that incorporating a single comb every now and then keeps good fertility over the course of years. I raise Buff Wyandotte Bantams and the best pullet I raised last year had a single comb. I used her this year for breeding and did not have any single combed chicks.
