Good day.
Im Chad from South Africa, I breed with silver and golden laced cochins. I currently have 1 silver laced rooster and 2 silver laced hen. My golden laced rooster died so I'm only sitting with a golden laced hen. I've put the golden laced hen with my silver laced cochins to try and breed some Goldens is this the right way? I'm also battling with firtility as well. Would it be possible if I can cross my golden laced hen with a golden laced Wyandotte rooster and carry on from there? I trust you guys can assist me.
Kind Regards
Chad

It essentially could be done, but would take 4 or more generations of breeding to obtain perfect Golden Laced

It would have been much better if you had it the other way around, but the way you have the cross now, all of the pullets of the first cross will be Silver laced, only the cockerels will carry one copy of the sex linked recessive gold gene s+, but it will have the sex linked dominant Silver gene S, so they will be S/s+ and will hatch like regular Silver Laced

The roosters may look like this S/s+ rooster

You can take the best F1 rooster and cross it back to the golden laced hen, you will produce 50% golden laced pullets and 50% silver laced, 50% golden laced cockerels and 50% Silver/gold cockerels
