Maybe CCL as they have a crest that goes backwards like that...Cant remember of any other kind that has a backwards crest, unless the wind is just blowing the head feathers like that..

I agree that it looks like a mixed breed cockerel. And also he's likely no match for a dog who has a history of killing chickens.

One of my 6 mo old jennies did chase my mom’s fru-fru dog. I think that was something of an anomaly though. Whatever it was, it was hilarious. Some months before, I caught him chasing one of my half-grown (bigger than him) geese... it’s all in the attitude, but sometimes attitude just isn’t enough.

Cockerel. And don't expect him to do anything but die the same way your other chickens have if he meets the dog.

Definitely a rooster. In different lighting, he has beautiful, iridescent tail feathers, and a nick neck plumage.
