The lacing is pretty distinct.

Clue me in on the lacing? Are you saying if it was a cockerel it would not have lacing in the hackle feathering? Never thought of that, still learning

Me too! Now I will browse cockerel lacing of Golden Laced Wyandottes!

The color patterns are different between the males and females. Generally the females have more distinct lacing than the cockerels especially on the wings and back.

I think pictures will explain it the best.
