Hi! I've an EE rooster - his color pattern is black breasted red. He's running with several hens, EE, GL Wyandotte, Australorp and one Langshan. I just let one of the hens who went broody hatch out some eggs.
Of the 12 eggs, I had:
3 EE: all hatched, and look like chipmunks, with muffs.
4 Wyandotte crosses: 1 clear, 1 quitter, 2 hatched as chipmunks, with muffs.
5 Australorp crosses: all died during incubation
1 Langshan cross: hatched as a black chick, with muffs and feathered legs.
My questions are:
Is there some reason that the Australorp crosses didn't hatch? Just luck, or is there some reason this cross won't work?
I'm guessing the Langshan cross will grow up black, muffed, bearded, and feather legged. But what will the Wyandotte crosses look like? So far, they look EXACTLY like the EE chicks, except they have a walnut comb instead of the pea comb. Anyone have any experience?
Thanks!
