Golden laced Wyandotte

Wow, thanks everyone!

Is there any specific coloring differences I would see right now? I do notice that there is some deeper red/brown in the wings on this one bird specifically that the others don’t have?

Does the deeper brown/red mean anything?

Thanks so much everyone!

Newbie question here,

Just got my first GLW and she is so beautiful! But the previous owner explained that she gets really dry feet, which is normal for herbreed i am told, and to put petroleum jelly one her feet once and a while...

I dont even like putting petroleum jelly on myself let alone a chicken... what is the best way to care for this? Is this really normal for GLW?

I've never heard of a chicken that has chronic dry feet. Nor have I heard that its a trait of the Wyandotte breed.
So would you say there is a health issue or just gove it time for the chicken to get regular as the dry flakey feet may be a result of the petroleum use?

Yep that's scaly leg mites. Its not a common trait for any breed. Its a mite infestation that can occur in any breed. There are many ways to treat it. I prefer to give them medication. So prefer vaseline. Etc...
