Golden Laced Wyandotte

I don't see any pointy saddle feathers, those usually start coming in around 12'ish weeks on cockerels. And the comb seems small. The color on the wings seems a little dark, but if it's actually that age I would have to think pullet :)

Upon further staring I'm not sure on the cockerel part. It's all very hard to say without a real age to go off of. The comb and wattles look small for a cockerel when compared with the very well defined wing feather colors, but the saddle area to me looks to be a bit more like a young cock. It's quite possible it is actually a pullet but I can't say definitively one way or the other on this one. It is clearly splash blrw and clearly a lot younger than stated, but otherwise a bit hard to pin down

I can't weigh in regarding pullet vs cockerel, as I am still figuring that out myself. However, I do agree that chicken is from a Blue-laced Red line, not Gold-laced. Here is a pic of two of my girls. The one on the left is Blue-laced Red (I believe mine is a splash as well), right is a Gold-laced. I also agree that your bird looks younger than 27 weeks. These two are only about 12 weeks old in this picture, which was taken a month ago. They are larger and plumper now.

As you can see, they look very different. Both of these girls are hatchery quality, but they are still lovely. As they've aged, their lacing has continued to improve, especially the Blue-laced variety. As chicks, they had almost no lacing at all. Here is a picture of two of my BLRWs at only 6 weeks old. The chick on the left is the same bird pictured above.

As you can see, her lacing has gotten much better ... and it looks even better today. (Sorry, no current pics. Going to have to fix that. ;))

Hope this helps.

I recommend you consider using a site that shows males and females and chicks of various breeds like My Pet Chicken or Meyer Hatchery. I am just learning as well and these resources have helped.

If it's any consolation blue laced red is generally more valuable and sought after than golden laced
