I recently received my replacement chicks from Meyer hatchery. Well the first time around my Golden Lakenvelders died within the first couple days. Now my new set ( BOTH ordered as female) are growing at different rates and one is growing a comb already. In my original the 2 Golden Lakenvelders died and 2 other chicks were sexed wrong ( out of 8 sexed chicks ordered). So now I am wondering if my female is actually a male . I know its early to tell but look at the pics and give me a guess lol. The chicks are 13 days old today and the pics were taken yestarday. :)

i would say its starting to look alittle rooish but its very early to even guess. i also got my chicks from meyer on the 21st of last month. i ordered 16 hens and got 17, none have died or gotten sick yet and only one is looking rooish but it is still early to tell. it could just be a "domanaint" hen. so good luck, hope its a hen!

i would say one male and a hen cuz i am a hatchery and we got to know what sex they and then ship them out within a couple of days
cheers hope that works

when the op ordered pullets they should both be pullets

its way to early to tell i had a pullet change into a cockerel at 10 weeks of age so wait till they are at least 6 weeks old

on any color of lakenvelder chick, the patteren can be different, dosent mean sex. once they get their feathers in, a solid black head means roo, they also get a bigger comb before the pullets do
