I certainly wouldn't buy from those sellers, again. That's why it's ALWAYS A RISK buying on-line. Not just fertility, shipping issues but geneology, too!

He is just barely getting his red in. He'll have his red at the end of the molt. I thought for sure mine was a crossbreed and then I came out one day and thought he was bleeding. Duh!

Hello,everyone! Can anyone tell me what pheasant is this? We bought it as red golden but he's not getting colors and he's about 1 year old already

Really need to wait until it's about 14 to 16 months old, around it's 3rd or 4th molt. The colors will be more apparent. I've had a few with the rust color on their back but not that much...should be getting, yellow feathers on it's back, even at this age. It's starting to get red on it's breast. Might have some Dark throat in it? It's next molt should tell the tale. With that said, it's either a Red golden or a Dark throat golden, IMHO

Not necessarily cross breeds, I got one from a breeder who is highly respected and the male ended up looking like this. I think some are just slower to feather out nicely. One of the other males I have is only from a late hatch last year and is almost in full adult coloration already.

Yeah, i've had some that were nearly full adult colors at 14 months, others took 21months. I don't think their cross breeds, either!

We put like 12 eggs each time (2 times) and we only had a total of 4 hatched (out of about 24!) And only 1 chick hatched by itself. The other 3 we had to help by breaking the shell. We usually tap on the shell and if it peeps we break it.
