hi all this year I have hatched my first golden pheasants I got 4 out and they are doing very well so far. I know that it is hard to tell when they are young so I have waited till now and I'm starting to see some differances. Can someone look at the photo and possibly help me with the sex of these birds?

My best guess is a male and 2 hens but I can't really tell by the picture. Check eye color. Males have a light greyish blue eyes and hens have brown eyes.

Yes that was my thinking as they look slightly different in its feathers. I have tried looking at the eyes but there's not too much differance. Does this become more apparent as they age or is it from birth? Thank you for your help

Yes you have a trio (one male and two hens) there. I usually just sex them by visual appearance and do not bother checking their eyes, so I would not be able to tell you at what age their eyes change color.

I have problems sexing the goldens at an early age (less than 3 month), my friends told to tell by the leg, female's leg is shorter and thinner than male, and tends to be greyish, he raise hundreds of goldens, so he takes this method, but I find it's difficult to tell this way. When they are 3 months old, their gender becomes apparent
