Hello, I have a VERY noisy little friend here. Is it possible this is a rooster? Already about 9 months old. Thanks so much for any help or insight, it's my first time with this breed!

She's a pullet :) If you can't tell from my avatar, I have a little golden laced polish too. They are TERRIBLE layers, but amazingly sweet birds. Mine started laying at around 26 weeks of age for like two weeks, and then stopped and hasn't laid since. She's about 9 or 10 months old, too. She laid the tiniest little white eggs.

Thank you everyone. So then my next question -- WHY so noisy?? She (and one of the others, a silver laced Polish) are constantly screeching and crowing. I am worried I will have to get rid of them because we live in the city. Any way to help them quiet down?

Crowing? Like cockadoodledoo? Can you post a pic of your other chicken? They should be at a laying age so are they laying? Are you getting any eggs? All hens and pullets can sing the egg song before/during/after laying an egg. It's LOUD and persistent!

Who knows? I raised Polish and never considered them to be a noisy breed, but it's the individuals that count more than the breed. You might try putting fun things for them to explore or play with into their run, and see if that makes a difference. Also, they may quite down as they mature.

Thanks everyone. I guess if I think about it it's not quite crowing. More like very loud cawing, sometimes in the early morning, but also throughout the day. Usually it really feels like they're just SCREAMING, for no reason. 🙃

We have 9 and we get ~2 eggs per day. They're all around 9-10 months old so it's hard to know who's responsible for the eggs.

Here's a pic of the other screamer, the silver laced on my wrist not the shoulder chicken. Also please excuse the silly picture, quarantine boredom leads to strange things . . .

They look similar aside from color so if you're saying the golden is a female, then I'm guessing the silver is as well. Just noisy ladies I guess.
