Our little Frodo is a golden polish, she has always been a bit weird as she has a very long neck and sleeps with her head upside down and between her legs. She has been getting even more strange tho, she started walking backwards with her head between her legs, then she started walking in circles a lot, then eventually she just went and hid in the corner. Thats when we brought her inside. But it does not seem to be an illness. She cannot hold her head still unless she lays it down. Her eyes and looking very cloudy and one pupil seems to be brown and black and not round at all. We got her as a baby in april from our neighbors. They received several polish chicks and gave us 4. Two of them died as chicks from pasty butt problems we believe. The other one is fine. I am not sure what is wrong with her or if there is anything we can do? Has anyone else encountered such odd behavior from a chicken? Does it sound nerological or like some kind of disease? Any help would be great.

Sounds like wry neck. Get some Poly-vi-sol infant vitamins with OUT iron. A couple of drops at a time, 3 times a day. It may get better, it may not. If not, be aware that it could die. It happens more to breeds with vaulted heads, when another bird pecks them in the vault.

Good luck and I hope your bird gets better.

give vitamins.. sounds like a deficiency.....

Now my wifes favorite hen Violet (Barred Rock/Murans) is acting very slow, head bobbing, and is blind in one eye, and the other is going quick. They are both under 1 year old, but I have several that are over 1 year. If its Mereks do the rest stand a chance? How can I tell if it is mereks?
