Walking through TSC and some baby chicks just fell into my bag.... oops.

Well, I saw PULLETS and grabbed four. Two Sicilian Buttercups, one Speckled Sussex and one Golden Sex Link... the one I’m questioning is the Golden Sex Link.

She’s definitely golden down, but 2 weeks old now, just starting to grow tail feathers and her comb is a little more prominent than the other babes. She’s also got more girth than the others.. however all three breeds are new to me, so I’m not sure if size is normal.

What do you guys think?

Oh yes, I know she’s a golden sex link, I was just curious if she is in fact a pullet as they said. Never know with TSC, heh
Sorry, I though you were asking about breed. Yes, she's a pullet. Males are solid white/pale yellow as chicks. Females get the golden down and white stripes.

Chick is now 4 weeks old..... I’m just checking she’s still a pullet???? Oof it’s been a while since I’ve had chicks, forgetting what’s normal colours for pullets growing combs. It’s mostly yellow, just the base is brighter red than I’m getting comfortable with.

Still a pullet 😀

I understand your concern, because if she was anything but a sex-link, i would be concerned about that sorta reddish-looking comb too. But since she came direct from tractor supply via a major hatchery, she can only be a pullet. I agree try to relax and let that little girl grow! Red/golden sex-links mature earlier than your other breeds. You can expect her to start laying pretty brown eggs when she reaches 20-21 weeks old. 🙂
