I am a returning backyard chicken raiser from about a decade ago. I purchased 10 Golden Laced Wyandotte chicks in early May. They appear heathy and chipper but are beginning to show a fuzzy "coat" on their backs... toward their rumps. Might this be because of the cool weather ? They started laying about three weeks ago. I do not see them pecking at that area. We are having a mild November except for a couple of low 20 degree days. We are getting 4 or 5 eggs a day from the ladies.
