Goldilocks cannot walk~ shes 17/!Update. She's gone to Heaven.

Oh,no. I just found this thread. I'm so sorry. I remember the first time I found out you had a 17 yr old chicken. I could not believe it. I know she had a great life there with you and little Mikey. I'm so sorry for your loss. Hope your heart heals quickley and the hole in it is patched soon.

Hi again,
I cant sleep, too much going on in my head.
Im feeling quite peaceful now though.
Thankyou all, you are wonderful.
Please dont feel sad, im sorry if i Made you cry.
Think of the tears as a gift to cleanse your souls.
Go out and give your Chookies a nice treat this morning from Goldie, perhaps some lettuce, that was her fave!
Goodnight and have a wonderful day

Hi Helen - don't worry about making people sad or making them cry. It's a good kind of sad and healthy/human kind of cry. It's the kind of crying you do because you realize how fragile life is and it makes you a better human being and a more loving caretaker. It makes you appreciate your family and pets and the time you have with them.

They are warm and wonderful tears that thaw the hardened/frozen hearts that we get from living in a hard world and we walk away from our p.c. and this forum a better human being who was touched by another's loss and heartache.

Thank you for sharing Goldie's life and story with us. I need to sit here and cry over a chicken I never met that lived on the other side of the world.

Oh Dear Kitty,
Im so sorry, I was thinking that she was going to keep going.
i couldnt get decent testing done urgently and she was sleeping, but looked in pain.
I will get test results next week. I only hope its not contagious. Ive changed hay etc and bleached out the coop.
God Bless.

The end has to come sometime for us all. It is just she was so unique in living for 17 years and still occasionally laying that has had everyone rooting for her so. We know you did what was best for her, just as you have been doing for 17 years.

Wow, Ruth that was lovely, Now no crying!!
Goldi had a fantastic life, and we have to let her go, shes done her bit for the chicken community.
Shes in a special spot out there, Not much fun digging a deep hole with Pnumonia!!! on a cold day but it was worth it.
I really need to get to sleep.
Talk later
Hxxxx

Sweet Kitty, Thankyou for your lovely pics and friendship, It was a very hard decision today however it felt right, The Vet was lovely.
He gave her an injection under the wing into the vein, (not into heart, thank Goodness) while she was in my arms and I felt her go to sleep ever so quickly which made me feel that she was internally weak and ready.

bantymum, I am so sorry for your loss. It warms my heart to see the outpouring of emotion over little Goldi - this forum is truly full of good folks! I hope I am as fortunate as you were, and have many chickens that are with me as long as Goldi was with you!
