Golf ball size patch of missing feathers

Hi,
I noticed today that one of our ladies is missing a patch of feathers the size of a golf ball on her neck close to her head. I never noticed it a week ago and she is not bleeding or doesn't have any bugs, but it's weird she is missing them! Could she have gotten in a squabble and they got pulled out? Does it mean something else that could be serious? None of the others appear to be missing any???

They may be into their first molt. How old is she?

I am not sure of their exact age but maybe coming up to a year. I am new to chickens and have had our original 6(added 6 in June to make 12) since Nov so i don't know what is normal for them to do! What exactly happens when they molt and how often and long does a molt last? Anything i should do for them if they are?
