So some of you know of my lone peachick I hatched out 2 months ago...my girls named Dragolin and he was a spalding split midnight BS. He loved his meal worms and to be held and put his little head under my arm to snuggle. He had a little chick friend but he still loved his human caregivers too.
Well yesterday my sister and brother in law came home from New Mexico for a visit...and brought their dog. He forgot about my babies and left a door open in which the dog went and checked them out. Well the dam dog killed my pea through the cage! Pulled his little neck out and broke it! My poor chick won't eat...she's as heart broke as I am :( I never thought this would happen as I've read many other's horrifying stories. I feel like I lost a child somewhat. I've never had a bond with a bird like I did to my baby pea. It's just not been my year! Thanks for letting me share, as it's hard to vent to my sister who feels horrible about it.

So sorry for your loss!

she should feel horrible about that. She knows you have birds, and there is no respect if you turn your dog loose when visiting. I'm sorry for your loss, what a horrible way for the young one to die.

I am sorry for your loss. My boyfriend Aaron's peachick Taco was really tame but he too recently died. We have no idea what happened to Taco. Aaron had just woken up and went over to say hello to Taco like he does every morning and Taco was lying there not moving. It is really upsetting when the really friendly ones pass away. You are not alone.
