Gonig to hatch in the classroom...have questions

Make sure you plan the hatch to occur at the beginning of the week - not over the weekend or on a Thursday/Friday in case there are early/late hatchers.

Hatching in the classroom is what got me started and we didn't plan well enough as far as counting out when the hatch will happen.

This is why I was thinking March. I will check my almanac to see what temps might get to. I am sure I can talk with my custodian about helping me with the air. And like I said I have keys to everything around me (gates and doors) so I could get in on the weekend to check everything.
I'm looking into the R-com. but if I can't pull that, I'm thinking building maybe more favorable. With the R-com mini I will have to bring in something to brood them in. I'm thinking if I build one I could brood them in that until I bring them home.

Keep it comin', I'm thinking and learning here too!

this is a good point but to add to it, make sure the hatching due day does not fall on a week-end or no one will get to watch them hatch..

My 6th graders built out first cooler/bators with a $3 stryofoam cooler from the dollar store. We didn't have Miss Prissy's instructions so it wasn't as good, but it worked. I would never again do it without an egg turner though, and transporting back and forth was awful. I got a Hovabator off Ebay for 40 and bought a turner,, so we turned out cooler into the hatcher so we could watch through the glass we put on the front instead of the top.

Thank you all. I decided to ask a science teacher if the district had incubators for rent...I found a bio teacher that borrowed one from the science center and has just kept it....so I am out no money or time to build! Yeah!!!
I am planning on starting to incubate in about 2.5 weeks.

I'll let you know how it goes!
