Hello everyone! As many here, I'm becoming a new chicken parent. Depending on when they arrive at the store, I'm picking up my new babies either tomorrow or Friday. I'm getting two Araucanas, two Rhode Island Reds, and two Buff Orpingtons. I've had many types of pets over the years, but this is my first foray into livestock.

I live in Massachusetts, and have two daughters who are very impatiently waiting for our chickens to show up. My husband wasn't too keen on the idea at first, but when the time came to actually order our chicks, his only question was "why are we only getting six?"
