Breeds good for laying, broodiness, AND mothering chicks. . .

Oriental Gamefowl (some less of layers than others though but Shamos are pretty dependable)

American Gamefowl

Araucanas

Most heritage-bred birds (non-hatchery based Wyandottes, Plymouth Rocks, Orpingtons, Sussex, etc)

Ameraucanas

My black orpingtons lay a lot of big, brown eggs. They go broody and are excellent mothers. My dorkings are good layers but when they go broody there's no stopping them until they have chicks following them around.

As Illia said most non hatchery heritage breeds are very good at laying, and brooding. While some breeds are better at certain aspects. Id think about your climate before you decide. For example if you live in a cold climate minacoras would not be the best breed to get.
