I just listened to a sermon last Wednesday at LifeMisson church in Olathe, and it was really good. Pastor Zach spoke about how letting Social Media take over our lives isn't a good thing. By watching and listening to it, we feel like we have to meet up to the world's expectations instead of God's, and we get self-conscious about things like; 'am I pretty enough?' 'did I post anything today that everyone would like?' 'why is that person always better than me?', etc. Anyway, Pastor Zach told us that he stopped Social Media and he has noticed a difference in his life. He said he's friendlier, more respectful of himself and others, and he gets loads more time to hang out and listen to the LORD say something to him that he might not have heard when he was on Social Media. Thankfully, I don't have that problem because I don't have a phone, but when I get on the computer to do these Chicken Chats, I can get really caught up and lose myself in the whole thing.
Anyway, the thing I really wanted to get to was this: I'm not going to be participating in any of the hangouts or rambles, but I will be responding to emergencies or questions on fowl matters only. After all, that's what this website if for anyway, right?
If anyone was wondering, @Lemon-Drop , @3KillerBs , and I will still be judging the Egg Flag Contest, but other than that, I won't be doing any hangouts or rambles.
I'm sorry to who may be angry at this, but I want my life to be more dedicated to the LORD's than BYC's
(Btw just a reminder, but I still reply to Emergencies and diseases threads.)
See ya'll later. :jumpy

Also, for those who are unbelievers, please don't reply angrily to my post. I posted this thread mainly for my friends here at BYC.

These chats and social media can definitely be addictive. It is good that you are keeping your life in perspective. It takes good self control not to get caught up in all the things going on online and comparisons to others. I think everyone should be taking a careful look at how much time is spent (wasted) online. (We tell our kids this all the time). Yes, there are many good things to learn online and ways to connect with others, but there is also some very bad stuff and just useless stuff that takes us away from what is really important. Enjoy your time connecting more deeply with God. It will definitely be worth it. 😇

I will miss you!

I had to set a time limit for myself so I wouldn't obsess over BYC, so I totally understand! For a while I would spend about 10 hours a day on BYC, way too much.

I'm glad you are listening to what you, and the Lord, feel are right.

:hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs
It's always important to keep your life in proper balance and your interests in proper perspective. God bless you.

Thank you all for understanding. :hugs

I don’t really know you and am not religious, just wanted to say that stepping back from social media is never a bad thing for anyone for whatever reason! And it sounds like you are still planning on helping people out where you are needed, just happens to be on an Internet forum. :) So thank you for that and be happy ‘disconnected’!
