Good Chick Breeds?

Hi! As I mentioned in an earlier post, we were thinking of getting new chicks in spring. We have some black and red sexlinks, and some americanas. What other breeds should we try to target? (Though, who knows what we'll be able to get, cause we were barely able to get sexlinks...most of the stores sold out.)

What is your primary reason for keeping chickens?
Eggs
Meat
Pets/yard companion

And your approximate location, and space available. Some birds do better in heat, others in colder climates.
Easter Eggers, French Marans, Buckeyes, Wyandottes, Chanteclers, all good in cold weather.
Brown Leghorns, any with single combs for warmer climates.
I'd avoid Salmon Favorelles, mild mannered individuals who may be picked on by your sex links.
So many choices, and it depends on your goals for your flock.

Okay, so you already have Easter Eggers. For variety of egg colors, Brown Leghorns (or white birds), dark brown eggs from French Marans or either Barnevelders or Welsummers. Speckled Sussex! Very friendly hens, love them! Also beautiful Wyandottes, Plymouth Rocks, so many choices...
