Good dog, close call!

Hexe, thanks for posting that. I have been considering a Rottweiler for some time now but everyone keeps telling me how vicious they are.

I adopted a rotty-chow mix and he's really a sweetiepie.

It saddens me when people say that certain dog breeds are "vicious". it's all in how you raise them!

I was raised with guard dog breeds since I was a baby. First I had a Boxer, then a German Shepard, then a rottwieller, then a rottwieller-Shar Pei mix, and now I have a Belgain Malinois and a rottwieller again. My Rotts have been the sweetest dogs, when my daughter was born our Rottie would not let her out of sight. She would sleep next to my daughters crib, and come running to let me know the baby was awake. The Rottie would patiently let my daughter use her to learn to stand, and when my daughter cried, the Rottie whimpered with her and licked and cuddled tring to comfort my daughter. I miss that Rottie, she was the best dog. The male Rottie-Shar Pei mix was less loving but more protective, nothing was going to harm his family on his watch. Rotwiellers have an incredible will, they will give their lives to defend their family and have a very high pain tolerance. But, Rotties can be very stubborn, lol.

My current Rottie is a uber sweetheart, she loves giving hugs and simply adores cats and kids. I found her about to be euthanized, she was "aggressive breed", heart worm positive, was so over weight that she had some hips pains, and the shelter was full. They didn't even charge me an adoption fee. Unfortunately, I can't keep her. My husband is a first time dog owner. He cant even handle my fully trained 5 year old Belgian Malinois, much less a work in progress 2 year old Rottie. I feel I need to find my girl a better home until my husband can handle a serious working dog. Our Siberian Huskies are comedians and don't take things seriously, so when my husband messes up, no harm done (it helps that the 4 Siberians and the Belgain are all in agility training with me and my 2 sons. The Rottie can't participate in agility until she is cleared of heart worms, her next test is December.)

My neighbor has a Bully (what most people mistake for a Pitt Bull), and he is a sweetie. He loves attention, he protects his flock of chickens, and is a far cry from the "viscious killer" the media portrays his breed as. Please don't believe the media hype, all dogs become what their owners raise and train them to be.
