We soak our homemade whole grain chick starter and can't fill up the jar that screws onto the normal chick feeder. The food doesn't just fall into where it needs to be because it's wet. We have to fill it 3 times a day and they're eating more and more. So we're wanting to figure out their big girl feeder and don't know what to do. Does anyone use a soaked whole grain recipe and have a feeder idea? Do you just stop soaking it when they get bigger. They seem to do okay when I don't soak it but I rarely give it to them that way. They are 9, 11 & 12 weeks old. Ronda at Greener Pastures says soaking is optional but my chicks didn't do well with it unsoaked when they were tiny. I imagine it's best for them soaked. Not sure what to do. Any feeder ideas? Should I soak or not soak?
