Good for Nothing Rooster

My laying pen rooster, Chestnut, is a silver pencil rock and he is great about watching and warning the girls. My Silkie Rooster is my ninja chicken. In his 10 plus years he has taken on and survived a micro tornado which completely destroyed his coop, a hawk, and owl, a possum, a fox, and we think the neighbor's dog. He is mostly retired now and as a result is in maximum security with his buddy the blind rooster. (The bantam hen will actually beat up anything that thinks it might take charge). The other roosters are youngsters from this years hatching.... and one of them is looking like he will be a fine Looking and Mannered Maran Rooster..... hmmmm..... good for nothing Dorking rooster available.......anyone interested?

LOL! Well, I have *my* rooster because I want him to fertilize my eggs so I can raise chicks. He does this very well.

I don't expect him to attack predators or anything. I know that some do, but I think of it as a talent, like singing, or dancing. They can't all be good at that. The rooster can still be worth having around anyway. ;)

I will give him that....he does that part of his job well and his chicks definitely have some meat on their bones. :)
