My name is Mia and I currently have 5 7 week old chicks and (I think a roo) and 34 week old chicks. I always read the forums and finally decided I should just sign up. Have been raising chickens for 5 years now and love it. I do have a couple questions about my hen possibly being a roo and also how to introduce chicks to my 7 week old chicks and I look forward to the advice :)

Hi :welcome Mia

Glad you could join the flock! Congrats on your chicks :celebrate I just love raising them, it's so much fun and very rewarding. If you are unsure of gender you could post some pics in the what breed gender section. Here is the link ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this I'm more than sure lots of members will be able to help you.
Once your chicks are of the same size you could use the look but don't touch method of getting everyone together. Have them so they can see each other through wire but so they can't touch each other, this way they get acquainted before going in together. A few weeks usually does the tricks. Here is a lovely article all about this method ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/introducing-new-chickens-using-the-see-but-don-t-touch-method

Wishing you the very best of luck in the future and enjoy BYC :frow

Hi Mia, welcome to BYC!

The "look but don't touch" method of integration Yorkshire coop told you about really does work. We tried that last year had great success mixing 2 groups of chickens together. There were some minor skirmishes but nothing extreme.

What breed(s) of chickens do you have? Feel free to ask questions or share stories and pictures of your flock. There is so much information available here and a lot of friendly, helpful members.

It's nice to have you join us!

I have silver laced wyandottes, golden laced, two speckled Sussex and am looking to intergrate two more silvers, one more gold and a Dominique chick into the flock. Here is a pic of one of my silver who's name is ghost and the gold which I think is a boy, but I named him bowser as a chick so it's really quite fitting :). https://www.backyardchickens.com/content/type/6

Your golden laced wyandotte looks like a pullet to me. Could you possibly provide a better picture of the black and white chicken's comb (from the front) and a picture of the speckled chicken from the side while it is standing on the ground?
