Hi everyone, checking in from Okotoks, Alberta area!

After months of research, I've plunged into the world of raising chickens! Built my own incubator and after some testing and finessing, placed 12 White Leghorns, 6 Buff Orpingtons, and 6 mixed in this morning. Quite exciting!

Thanks BYC for all the info and look forward to soaking in more as I go as well as contributing.

First of all, welcome to BYC! I haven't ever incubated any eggs yet, and I don't know if I will have to. But, anyways the incubator looks great! If you haven't found it yet, at the top of the page you will see a whole bunch of brown tabs. There is a tab that says Learning Center. There, you can learn a lot, so check it out!

I remember researching getting chickens for months before getting them too! You've picked two great breeds. Buff orpingtons are my favorite breed. They are super friendly and affectionate. And leghorns lay tons of eggs. Best of luck with the incubation!
